What is a Digital Product Passport?
A Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a structured digital identity for a physical product, accessible from the product itself via QR code or NFC. It carries identity, composition, manufacturing, compliance and end-of-life information for the people and systems that need it. It is not a label and not a marketing landing page — it is data with a persistent identifier behind it.
What do the EU DPP requirements actually ask for?
Under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), each product group gets its own delegated act defining the data set: identifiers, materials and substances of concern, durability and repair information, compliance documentation and end-of-life guidance. The data has to be accurate at product or batch level, machine-readable, and reachable from the product for its whole service life.
When do DPP requirements apply to my products?
The first product-specific delegated acts land from 2027, with textiles, batteries and further product groups rolling out in waves. Most companies start the operational work in 2026 because data collection, supplier outreach and system integration take far longer than standing up the passport itself.
Do our data need to be ready before we start?
No. Almost every company starts from a fragmented picture spread across ERP, PLM, spreadsheets and supplier emails. That is exactly the starting point: the Readiness Assessment establishes what you have, what is missing, and who has to supply the rest.
Do we have to replace our ERP, PIM or PLM?
No. OVERWRLD connects to the systems you already run, maps your existing fields to a canonical product structure, and leaves your systems of record untouched.
How long does implementation take?
